Models 101 Case Study

CONNECTION:

I met Tina Nikolovski in 2012, when we were both fitness professionals. Tina had studied photography and had started a business, and I was a magazine editor and freelance PR and communications consultant.

RELATIONSHIP:

We always said if I returned to Australia we would work on a project together. I did return – and at this point Tina had established a boutique modelling agency.

In 2018, Models 101 was established by Jordan Martin and Tina Nikolovski. Tina is the photographer with the agency know-how, and Jordan has three decades of experience behind, and in front of the camera.

AIM:

To provide a valuable training experience for aspiring models, professional models and people wanting a real model experience.

“I designed the intensive day as a practical experience for models in development, refinement and aspiring models, and our aim is to hold an inclusive space for the students, so they can learn the skills required to move forward in the industry with confidence and dedication.” Jordan Martin – Model Mentor.

SUMMARY OF ACTIVITY:

  • Branding: It was important to have simply branding with a neutral theme colour to reenforce the inclusive nature of the workshops.
  • Workshops: The workshops were different from others available, in that they were focused on industry scenarios and practical tasks. Demonstrations were provided, along with mindset tasks, runway and movement in front of the camera. I delivered the workshop and then the students got to experience a photoshoot, shot and directed by Tina, who also provided some industry information on what agencies expect from models.
  • Feedback: Students were given feedback throughout the intensive day of model training, and were also encouraged to give peers feedback, as well as complete forms of self-assessment. The feedback from the students about the course itself was extremely positive with some constructive elements, such as, one-to-one mentoring to be included… which was implemented from the second workshop.
  • Graduates: #Models101graduates are still honoured a 10% discount on mentoring services offered by Jordan and photographic services offered by Tina.

Many of the of the graduates have gone on to be published models, either self-representing or agency signed.
