This page shares information about some of my previous projects and clients.
Lorna May Wadsworth: I was appointed in 2010 to look after the online PR for Lorna May Wadsworth’s double exhibition in St Martin’s in the Fields. Lorna re-appointed my services in 2011, to create a basic website, showcasing 100 pictures available to buy at just £100 each. Over half of the images sold in the first week of the site being online, and as a result Lorna re-appointed my services to add another 100 pictures onto an updated site.
Base Formula: I was appointed by the FHT-approved aromatherapy supplier, Base Formula Ltd, for a short stint to increase awareness of the brand in the B2C sector. I gained print coverage including in Kindred Spirit Magazine, online coverage across national publications and with Twitter influencers, established relationships with VIPs, conducted interviews, wrote copy on products for the Chinese market (in English for the translator), as well as set out definite PR suggestions to help the Marketing team push forward with future branding and publicity plans.
#ESIMBI: I was appointed by founder of the #ESIMBI enterprise for a short stint to help with crisis management and preparation required to launch the social enterprise that supports young people in getting apprenticeships. Appointment included VIP and celebrity guest list, goody bags, presence on the night, liaisons, press release copy and distribution.
The launch was a success and I have been reappointed to work with the 1-year anniversary of #ESIMBI in 2017.
Eleonor de Casanovas: Model-turned-designer Eleonor Calvo Halscheidt designs and makes elegant and unique handmade jewellery. Based in Barcelona, and having lived in London and travelled to many countries, she is inspired by her experiences and by unusual materials. During appointment under Portal PR, I gained some of the brand’s first TV and print coverage, including Naomi Wilkinson, children’s TV presenter.
Max McMurdo is a young entrepreneur and eco-designer, who has most of his design and business ideas whilst relaxing in the bath. He gained investment on BBC1’s Dragons Den (series 5), and since this TV appearance has managed to make his eco-design dreams a reality; he believes ‘… eco design can be really stylish, and beautiful.’
I enjoyed a stint of time representing Max McMurdo, and Reestore, working on projects with Siemens and The Body Shop. I still remain in contact with Max, who has found even more success as an #upcycling TV presenter and author.
Some Previous Press coverage includes: Bedfordshire on Sunday, Interiors Magazine, Holistic Therapist Magazine, and Inspired Times.
Cynikal: British-Asian rapper-producer; Cynikal is a creative talent who describes his music as “hip-hop with soul”. I enjoyed a short appointment with Cynikal during the second part of 2012, at which time he performed at the UK #Olympics, and some cool London venues. I gain online and print coverage for the young rapper.
Emily-Rose: Emily is a young professional make-up artist, author, and make-up therapist. She first appointed my services after working with me on a photoshoot for another client.
I set out to establish Emily-Rose as an expert in her field by…
- Assisting Emily-Rose with the publishing of her debut book ‘How to Look Pretty NOT Plastered’.
- Emily launched her second book, which she was written during appointment with Portal PR, at which time I offered editorial guidance, plus project managed the front cover. ‘How to Look Beautiful Forever’ is a follow-on guide to her debut book.
- I also supported Emily with her vegan lipstick launch, creating the marketing tagline ‘Blooming Natural’, and naming each lipstick aptly after flowers.
- I secured make-up projects for Emily via TV, radio, print, online and red carpet, as well as gained her coverage across all media, including writing make-up columns.
- Emily Rose’s debut book, ‘How to Look Pretty NOT Plastered’, was featured on the competition pages of March’s issue of Bliss Magazine, which was out in February 2012. The competition had a great response, with four lucky winners.
- I secured relationships with VIPs and celebrities including Shona McGarty and Anna Williamson.
Emily-Rose now operates under her full name Emily-Rose Braithwaite, and is working as a commercial and TV make-up artist based in Sydney, Australia, and has a successful YouTube channel, which is established during appointment. She remains in contact with me for consultancy when needed.
Marcello Pozzetti: Marcello Pozzetti is an Italian photographer based in the UK. At the time of PortalPR’s appointment Marcello was operating a photographic studio in Greenwich called Prima Donna Studio. PPR looked after branding, website content and public relations for the photographer and studio for a 12 month contract. Now residing in the Norfolk countryside, Marcello continues his photography.
Case Study – Breast Cancer Campaign Calendar
Brief: To come up with a project that was worthwhile and at the same time promoted the positive name of Marcello as a photographer, and raised awareness for the Greenwich-based studio. Like many people, Marcello had been a direct victim of cancer.
Solution & Results in brief: Model search, photo shoot and calendar launch to support Breast Cancer Campaign, and to raise brand awareness for London-based photographic studio. This was particularly successful as the chosen models gained local and national press coverage for their input. The calendar extended the branding of the Prima Donna Studio, being based on beautiful Hollywood sirens from the era of the 1950s. I directed the photo shoot, which consisted of organising 14 models.
At the start of 2010, Marcello searched for the models to enter the fund raising project. The shoot took place in July 2010. The Prima Donna Studio 1950’s Pin-up Calendar was inspired by the hollywood actresses of this era. It embraced femininity and was a positive way to raise money for the worthwhile cause. £2 from every Calendar sold was donated to Breast Cancer Campaign, a charity registered in England (Charity No. 299758) and a company limited by guarantee (Company No. 05074725)
Breast Cancer Campaign researches the cure and fundraises in a positive way all year round. The month of October is the time where supporters can get involved and raise even more funds for the charity, with events, races and by Wearing It Pink on October 29th. Breast Cancer Campaign funds research and awards grants.
The thought behind the calendar was to raise awareness every day of every week of every month of the year 2011, in a beautiful and positive way. The women who posed as iconic actresses come from all walks of life; Miss Oxfordshire, Alice Christian models as Sophia Loren, fulltime mum Rachel Jenkins as cover girl Marilyn Monroe, Hollyoaks actress Rachel Doherty graces the month of January as Audrey Hepburn, December was posed by mother and daughter Sharon and Kirsty Adams: Sharon overcome her difficulties with breast cancer and after undergoing a full mastectomy is now fighting fit every day.
Other angles for press: Vicki Lord tamed Abby’s hair to match the tidy hairdo of 1950’s actress Dorothy Dandridge for the charity calendar launched by Prima Donna Studios. This appeared in Black Hair Magazine, and other national press, included the local papers of each model.
Tina Lobondi: I have worked on several projects with the Congolese-born entrepreneur based in London. Raised in France, Tina Lobondi is an international fashion designer and a well-respected name in the elite of African designers, having been listed as the 16th most successful women to watch in Forbes Afrique 2016. She established her fashion label in Notting Hill, London in 2011, which has been expanding gradually ever since.
Tina’s work is classic in structure, yet innovative in approach, bringing together both elegance and edginess to create a striking silhouette. Her collections are based on attention to detail and finish; classic and chic pret-a-porter.
Designer’s clientele includes Grammy Award winner and New York based singer Angelique Kidjo, London based singers Lianne La Havas and Xfactor’s Chloe-Jasmine Whichello, and actress Thandie Newton to name a few. And Tina’s designs have been published in various magazines and she has appeared on TV Channels including Channel 4, ITV, Forbes Woman Africa, Marie-Claire and ELLE Magazine South-Africa, British Soap Awards, LOOK Magazine, OK Magazine, and BBC Africa.
